all of julius stahl's works have in common that they are based on tones, vibrations and resonance. the catalogue presented here shows how different and yet essentially connected they can manifest themselves. it documents resonant objects from various groups of works, and the developments that have taken place within them in recent years. with britta e. buhlmann and helga de la motte, two renowned voices from the fields of visual arts and music could be won for accompanying texts. a selection of works included as part of the catalogue will be on display on the occasion of the presentation on november 30.

this makes it clear that julius stahl perceives the resonant objects as parts of a whole that is less about the works as such than the situation they create. his main concern is not the material object, but perception itself. the resonant objects create the conditions for an "inward gaze" that asks where one‘s own perception begins and how it unfolds over time.

stahl‘s works are not only audiovisual, but also an approach to the question of the interpenetration of space, time and energy, which is addressed very clearly in the licht series. it probably also concerns the physical idea of the fundamental structure of matter, which can ultimately only be determined in mathematical "forms" – for which the sine wave without beginning or end can be seen as a model.
