liebe freunde und freundinnen. in der historischen kolvenburg, in der nähe von münster, organisieren wir eine große gruppenausstellung. im gegensatz zu ausstellungen mit neutralen, weißen wänden, wie der messe oder den wänden eines museums, ist hierzu der historische charakter der denkmalgeschützten kolvenburg ein großer unterschied. bezogen auf diese vielen, ehemals und jetzt zweckgebundenen räume, früher vielleicht der hochzeits-saal des fürsten primus zur gräfin prima ist dies jetzt der empfangssaal... des ministers habeck mit sarah wagenknecht… oder der kulturreferentin swenja janning.

und jetzt können wir hier konkrete kunst ausstellen. die phantasien hierzu haben spaß gemacht. in mehreren etagen können wir mit arbeiten konkreter kunst aus dem galeriebestand wählen. wir haben vieles neu entdeckt, auch große bekannte werke in neuen zusammenhang gesetzt. grafikreihen und skulpturen werden gegenüber gestellt. wir zeigen in etwa 120 arbeiten von 73 internationalen künstlerinnen und künstlern.

es gab keine möglichkeit etwas im außenbereich oder auch installationen zu zeigen. historischer bezug bedeutet hier auch: du darfst keinen nagel in die wand hauen, etwas bohren, alles nur an stahlseilen abhängen, oder mit magneten halten. die leiterin und (leute) der städtischen galerie, der kolvenburg sind sehr begeistert.

generell könnte man sagen, die arbeiten wurden raumbezogen gewählt, auch ironisch dagegen gesetzt, teilweise sind sie sehr selbständig und gut und haben von raumbezug oder ironie noch nie etwas gehört. wir danken den künstler:innen, dass wir deren arbeiten (ohne vorher zu fragen) zeigen können.

das ganze ins rollen gebracht hat norbert thomas, der dort kürzlich ausstellte, wir danken ihm hierfür.

dear friends. in the historic kolvenburg, near münster, we are organizing a large group exhibition. in contrast to exhibitions with neutral, white walls, such as the art-fair or the walls of a museum, the historical character of the kolvenburg castle is a big difference. in relation to these many, formerly and now purpose-built rooms, formerly perhaps the wedding hall of prince primus to countess prima, this is now the reception hall... of the minister habeck with sarah wagenknecht... or the cultural advisor swenja janning.

and now we can exhibit concrete art here. the fantasies concerning this job have been fun. on several floors we can choose from works of concrete art from the gallery stock. we have rediscovered a lot of things, even combined large well-known works in new contexts. graphic series and sculptures are juxtaposed. we are showing around 120 works by 73 international artists.

there was no opportunity to show anything outside or even do installations. historical reference here also means: you are not allowed to hammer a nail into the wall, drill anything, hang everything on steel cables or hold it with magnets. the director and (people) of the municipal gallery, the kolvenburg, are very enthusiastic.

in general, you could say that the works were chosen in relation to the space, also set ironically against it, some of them are very independent and good and have never heard of spatial reference or irony. we thank the artists for being able to show their works (without asking beforehand). norbert thomas, who recently exhibited there, got the whole thing going, we thank him for that.
