designed by heijo hangen, produced and published by edition hoffmann in collaboration with artists marcelle cahn, jean gorin, aurélie nemours, michel seuphor and françois thépot in 1973, the artist portfolio "franzoesische konstruktive" is an early example for edition hoffmann's effort to document and promote an international and decentral constructivist art milieu in the format of relatively affordable limited edition silk screen prints and artist portfolios. the attempt to democratize the access to contemporary art, theoretical context and collectorship is program. besides signed and numbered seriegraphies the artist portfolios often feature small essays by associated scholars or the artsit's writings in various formats. this viewing room presents––alongside reproductions of six prints from "französische konstruktive" (1973) and a selection of unique works by aurélie nemours and michel seuphor––a short statement by marcelle cahn and a poem in french language by aurélie nemours (both 1973):

the overlooked small objects are essential for my work. the nonentities of daily life are the carries of the sculptural being. i prefer the rudimentary over the luxurious. the perception of those silent existences is fundamental. i lived in solitude and identified with it. therefor a parable. 1960 i started using the sphere. first on surfaces later, during past years, as well inside spatial structures (spatiaux). in my perception, the sphere represents the four-dimensional experience of space.
